I write from climate and energy, where the ground moves fastest, but the question shows up anywhere decisions are contested — a board fight, a financing, a permit. Very little gets written about how those decisions actually settle.

Each issue takes one decision and thinks it through in full. After the essay comes Among Friends and Peers: work I thought was worth passing on, and who made it.

Who writes it

I'm Jonathan Lyons. I run Among & Between, a solo advisory practice for climate-tech founders, investors and operators making decisions where capital, policy and product intersect.

I built my career at those intersections. Public affairs inside the Democratic infrastructure at Dewey Square Group; wind farms at Invenergy before the sector had a policy tailwind; then a decade across energy analytics, enterprise health technology and platform economics. I founded Among & Between in 2020. Recent work includes building a national innovation framework for PG&E under Realize 2050, and incubating Groundwork, an eight-week advisory cohort for climate founders.
